Business Plan and Magic Scheduling

At this point in my Senior Project, I feel me and Quinn are very close to reaching our current goal for Estim8. Over this past week, we’ve worked very hard to sharpen our business plan and all of its different aspects. Our business plan is a nine-page document that includes a business overview, the product overview, the app’s key features, our customer focus, the management team, success factors, financial highlights, Estim8’s history, our industry analysis, customer analysis, competitive analysis, our marketing plan, our operations plan, the milestones we want to reach, and much more.

I’m going to explain more about the product overview and the app’s functions because that was the thing I spent the most time on throughout the week.  I’m sure I’ve said this in my blog already, but when me and Quinn decided to start Estim8, we derived the problem and solution from our own lives and the lives of people around us. Because we’ve both been at Hawken for a significant period of our school careers, we know the importance of good time management and the stress of being behind on assignments. Because time-management skills are relatively hard to come by for most secondary and tertiary students, we wanted to find a way that would help students improve their time management or do it for them. With this problem in mind, we created our “Magic Scheduling” (don’t really have a better name for it, but we definitely will find one). Magic Scheduling will give Estim8 users multiple ways to schedule and complete their homework assignments. The three different scheduling methods are called First Fit, Last Fit, and Best Fit, and each student will be able to choose which method best suits them. First Fit Scheduling will input homework assignments into the appropriate time slot that allows them to complete their work as early as possible. Last Fit Scheduling will input assignments into students’ calendars at the latest time that allows them to complete their assignments on time. Best Fit Scheduling will input assignments into time blocks that are the most convenient for the student. Through our research and other advisors, me and Quinn have discovered that this kind of technology does not exist in any market right now, but it is possible to achieve if we can clearly detail our vision to developers.
